The Descent Part 2 is a 2009 British adventure horror film and sequel to the 2005 horror film The Descent. It was directed by Jon Harris from a screenplay by James McCarthy, J Blakeson, and James Watkins. The film was produced by Christian Colson and Ivana MacKinnon; Neil Marshall, the writer and director of the original, was an executive producer. Shot in London and Surrey, it was released in cinemas in the UK on 2 December 2009 and was given a straight-to-DVD release on 27 April 2010 in the US.
When the team splits up in search of her, Vaines accidentally discharges his pistol after a crawler scares him. As a result, part of the cavern collapses and traps Cath under a pile of rocks, separating her from the rest. They decide to find an alternate way around in order to try to free Cath and arrive in a room full of bones, finding Holly's damaged video camera among the debris. They watch the recordings and realize the missing women had been attacked by the crawlers. Sarah, hiding nearby, overhears the recording and regains her memories. A panicked Rios starts calling for help, alerting the crawlers to her location. Sarah saves her by covering her mouth, as the crawlers are blind and they hunt by relying on sound. The two of them watch and wait as a crawler kills Dan and drags his body away.
The film was originally set to be released by Pathé in May 2009, but was delayed. It was released in France on 14 October, Japan on 7 November and Argentina on 19 November.[8] It was released in UK cinemas on 4 December 2009.[9] The film did not reach its expectation in the UK debuting at No. 9[10] making the first week domestic gross 313,739.[11] Total gross in the UK stands at 674,550.[12] In France the film has proven successful reaching No. 5 and grossing $1,097,535[13] in its opening weekend. Total gross in France now stands at $2,438,834.[14] After calculating the film's box office performance and DVD sales it earned roughly 25% of The Descent's final gross.[15]

Why The Descent: Today is kick-ass horror heroine day in our Halloween Celebration and Thea asked me to watch this one. I have NO IDEA why I agreed given as how I hate the premise (see below).
The descent 2005 was one of the best horror movies of that decade that used the surroundings to its advantage and at the same time carried the mystic and the thrill of the unknown to its benefit, with a great performance from the entire cast making smart decisions which made you root for them even more regardless of their personal life traits or how shitty some of them were as human beings giving you a great and a satisfying end, but after all it's a Hollywood movie so...
When the worst Sheriff in America takes the only known survivor of the first descent right back into the caves to find the others, further chaos ensues and forced sequel writing takes over. This is a disappointment although there are enough good parts for horror fans to enjoy. I wish they had kept this all women and/or just done a completely new story about the caves. While I really enjoyed seeing one character come back, it didin't work well for the overall story. The first one is kind of special, this one is just
And I'm sorry WHO the fuck would think that the poor girl who survived the first film was responsible. Like who thinks, \"Ahhh yes, obviously Sarah took her friends down into the cave just to murder them.\" Who looks at those bodies and thinks a human is capable of that. That dumb fuck sheriff is one of my least favorite characters I've ever had the displeasure of watching.

The group discovers Rebecca's mutilated body, causing Sarah to have flashbacks of the crawlers and causing Vaines to believe Sarah may be responsible for the girls' disappearance. While crawling through a tunnel, she attacks Vaines and the others, causing the others to split up. Vaines runs to search for Sarah, and in the process is surprised by a crawler, and fires his gun in a panic, causing a minor collapse in the cavern which traps Cath, separating her from Rios, Dan, and Greg. The three decide to find an alternate way around in order to try to free Cath and arrive in a room full of bones, where they find Holly's video camera. They watch it and realize the women were attacked by the crawlers. The three are then themselves attacked by crawlers and separated.
Rios starts calling for help, alerting the crawlers to her location, but is rescued by Sarah. The two then watch as a crawler kills Dan and drags his body away, prompting Sarah to inform Rios that the crawlers are blind and hunt via sound. After escaping from and killing a crawler, Cath finds Greg before the two escape from another crawler and find Sam's body. They decide to try to use her to swing across a chasm, but are attacked again. Greg sacrifices himself to buy time for Cath, but she ultimately does not survive.
We illustrate the polar vortex breakup with six PV images from 2009 for 8 January (top left) through 12 February (bottom right). Each image is one week apart. On 8 January the vortex is fairly symmetric. Through the 15th and 22nd the vortex is elongated and displaced off the pole. By the 29th the vortex has split. The vortex weakens, and as can be seen on 5 February, the streamlines show that the winds have decreased in strength. By the 12th, the vortex has completely collapsed. 2009 is a good example of an early final warming.
LRO maneuvered into its 50-km mapping orbit on September 15. The next pass over the Apollo 17 landing site resulted in images with more than two times better resolution than previously acquired. At the time of this recent overflight the Sun was high in the sky (28 incidence angle) helping to bring out subtle differences in surface brightness. The descent stage of the lunar module Challenger is now clearly visible, at 50-cm per pixel (angular resolution) the descent stage deck is eight pixels across (four meters), and the legs are also now distinguishable. The descent stage served as the launch pad for the ascent stage as it blasted off for a rendezvous with the command module America on 14 December 1972.
The Challenger descent stage was extensively documented prior to launch and samples of the materials used to make the stage have been preserved at JSC. When human explorers return to Taurus-Littrow, the Challenger will provide vital information about the long-term survival of materials in the lunar environment.
October 6, 2009: For 1200 years, the Maya dominated Central America. At their peak around 900 A.D., Maya cities teemed with more than 2,000 people per square mile -- comparable to modern Los Angeles County. Even in rural areas the Maya numbered 200 to 400 people per square mile. But suddenly, all was quiet. And the profound silence testified to one of the greatest demographic disasters in human prehistory -- the demise of the once vibrant Maya society.
Etsuko and I hauled our packs to the Lower Saddle the day before. My watch (and its alarm) broke down on the way up. Woke up way too late but went up the route anyway. Pitched out Lower Exum and solo'd most of the Upper ridge. Topped out with one hour of daylight to spare and decided to spend the night on the summit instead of braving a blind/unknown descent down iced up Owen-Spalding. In retrospect, it was a great idea; cloudless warm night on the summit of this great mountain is hard to beat! This is a beautiful and truly classic route!
Great climb with Exum. Reached summit at 7:45am and watched \"Old Faithful\" erupt. PERFECT weather - guide didn't even use his headlamp due to full moon and balmy conditions. Back to the saddle before 11:00am.
A long day from moraines camp with Dirk. For the upper Exum we roped up for the friction pitch and a short section just before that. The rock is beautiful and amazingly varied, and we had about perfect weather. The \"black face\" pitch and the last pitch of the lower Exum were my favorites. Summit views were incredible. The approach and regular descent route were hell compared to most routes I've done in CA, the descent rappels were intimidating too.
When Jersey Shore first aired in 2009, with a majority of the cast being Italian, the series fed off certain Italian stereotypes from New Jersey. The MTV show portrayed what it was like for a group of young Italian-Americans to live down by the Jersey Shore for an entire summer. As the years went on and the cast became household names, some fans were shocked to find out that two of the roommates were not Italian and that most of the cast isn't even from New Jersey.
While most of the cast is at least half Italian, two Jersey Shore roommates do not have any Italian in their blood. Best friend duo, Nicole \"Snooki\" Polizzi and Jenni \"JWoww\" Farley, are not Italian despite many viewers assuming them to be. JWoww is actually part Spanish and part Irish. While her dad has been seen on the show in the past, JWoww rarely speaks about her mother. During their show Snooki & JWoww, JWoww briefly spoke about her mom's illness, explaining that she was put into assisted living when JWoww was a young girl. It is assumed that her Irish descent is from her father's side of the family, while her Spanish descent comes from her mother's side.
On the other hand, Snooki was adopted as a baby. In 2018, Snooki shared a video on her YouTube channel explaining the details of her adoption. She was born in Santiago, Chile, before being adopted into an Italian family as a baby. Snooki was just six months old when her parents flew to Chile to adopt her. She believes she was \"always meant to be\" with her adoptive parents. Snooki, who won't watch Jersey Shore with kids, admitted that although her technical nationality is Chilean, she grew up Italian, as both of her parents are from that heritage. In the video, Snooki revealed that she rarely talks about her adoption because she never questioned what her birth parents may be like. 59ce067264
